After a brief introduction, you’ll join a guided walk through the Garden to practice your new skills by observing real plants up close. By the end of the class, you’ll have practical knowledge you can use at home to identify plants and deepen your appreciation of the natural world around you. Meet Your Instructor Cameron Oldham, Horticulturist at Huntsville Botanical Garden Cameron grew up in a family of avid outdoorsmen who loved gardening, so she has always been interested in protecting the beautiful environment around us. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Middle Tennessee State University in 2019 and decided to return to school to pursue her passion for conservation, obtaining a Master of Science in Biology in 2023. While at university, she taught several biology courses and conducted research on an endangered plant endemic to the area around her alma mater. After graduating, she worked as a plant merchandiser for Metrolina Greenhouses for over a year and currently serves as a Horticulturist at the Huntsville Botanical Garden, focusing on the garden’s natural areas. Her love for plants and her interest in sharing her knowledge with others have only increased since working at Huntsville Botanical Garden!
