Family Program: Fabric Marbling

Discover the art of fabric marbling by learning the foundational techniques of creating colorful, one-of-a-kind surface designs. Participants will prepare a marbling bath, explore traditional patterns, and experiment with their own compositions to create a collection of uniquely marbled textiles and papers. Bio: Bianca Rose Dominguez is a Puerto Rican and Ecuadorian American interdisciplinary artist, textile educator, and healing arts practitioner based in New York City. For more than a decade, she has taught textile and fiber arts in museums, community studios, and nonprofit arts organizations, creating inclusive, hands-on learning environments for youth and adults. She received a B.A. in Visual Arts from Columbia University and is currently completing her MFA in Studio Art at Hunter College. Drawing from her background in textiles, somatic practice, and ancestral craft traditions, Bianca’s work explores diasporic memory, ecological kinship, and ritual through fiber, natural dyeing, printmaking, ceramics, and mixed media. Her teaching emphasizes experimentation, material knowledge, and the creative process, encouraging students to develop technical skills while cultivating curiosity, personal expression, and meaningful connections to craft. Her artistic and educational practice is rooted in the belief that making can serve as a powerful tool for storytelling, cultural exchange, and collective care.
