Featuring work from touring musicians V.Vecker (Gainesville, FL) and Casey Adams (Columbus, OH), and local artist Paige Alice Naylor, this night showcases three distinct voices in contemporary American music. The bodily experience of sound has become the focus of these three artists’ research and practice. V. Vecker’s music is influenced by a deep engagement with the phenomenology and physical experience of sound, and by how the digital turn is changing these experiences. By exploring the capacity of digital sound to shape perception, he organizes and manipulates field recordings alongside multiple synthesis styles to create sonic worlds that evoke an environmental style of listening, allowing the listener to create their own narrative, akin to walking through a field of sound. . This project is partially supported by a CityArts Grant from the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs & Special Events. The International Museum of Surgical Science acknowledges support from the Illinois Arts Council Agency. V.VECKER Keith Arthur Wecker (b. 1983) is a composer, improvisor, and multi-instrumentalist using technology to explore the timbral and temporal properties of granular synthesis in the creation of electroacoustic music. Keith focuses on bringing the in-between sounds to the forefront through a layering-intensive process, creating rich sonic textures that evoke a meditative environment for the listener to immerse themselves in. His personal approach to sound creation is highlighted by the diversity of the acts he has shared the stage with (Tim Hecker, Clark, Sumac, Thundercat, Wolf Eyes, Six Organs of Admittance, Goblin, Lori Goldston, and Sun Araw) as well as participating in projects of Anthony Braxton and Glenn Branca. Keith has had his music featured across North America, including multiple appearances at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, New Forms Festival, MOXSonic, VU Symposium, the International Computer Music Conference, NYCEMF, and Improvisors Summit PDX. Keith maintains a rigorous dedication to learning through both traditional and nontraditional educational formats. As a recent graduate of the University of Central Missouri, where he holds a Master of Arts in Music Technology, his work has been featured through his participation in several artistic residencies, including Lobe Sound Studios in Vancouver, BC, Canada, Lightbox Performance in Detroit, Michigan, and the Reforesters Laboratory in New York City, NY. Keith is enrolled at the University of Florida, where he will begin his PhD studies in composition and technology in the fall of 2026. Casey Adams: Casey Adams is a percussionist, builder, and creator of electro-acoustic noise. He currently lives in Columbus, OH. Paige Alice Naylor Paige Alice Naylor is a Chicago-based experimental vocalist, sound artist, technologist, and educator. Through sound-making and performance, she investigates the dissolution of time and the breakdown of language with electronically processed voice, tape loops, handmade electronics, field recordings, text scores, multichannel sound, poetry, and repetitive, layered production. Her direct and interpersonal approach creates live sonic environments which feel vulnerable and intimate. She has performed at Rewire Festival (NL), Variations Festival (FR), Public Records (NYC), The Lab (SF), amongst others.
