Freed to Run Challenge | October 3rd, 2026 | The Jacksonville Equestrian Center Get ready to run, walk, laugh, and challenge yourself at the Freed to Run Challenge on October 3, 2026! This unique endurance event takes place along the beautiful, tree-lined asphalt trail of the Cecil Field Recreational Trail, featuring a 5K out-and-back loop that returns to the event’s “Tent City,” where participants can conveniently access their gear throughout the race. With multiple challenges to choose from, there’s an opportunity for runners and walkers of all experience levels: 3-, 6-, and 12-Hour Events: Run or walk as many 5K loops as you can within your allotted time. 5K Ultra: Complete a 5K loop at the top of every hour for 10 consecutive hours to reach 50K. Each loop must be completed within the one-hour time limit. 12-Hour Relay: Teams of 4–6 can work together to complete as many loops as possible, with teammates taking turns in any order. Every participant will receive a custom medal and event shirt, with overall awards for the top three finishers in each event and distance. Age-group awards may also be presented for the 5K distances, along with fun surprise awards—including the highly coveted “Slow A$$” award for DFL (Dead F*ing Last)!** Presented by Sombrero Running Events, the Freed to Run Challenge promises a welcoming, inclusive, and low-key atmosphere for participants of all abilities.
