Registration Deadline: Friday, May 29, 2026 Free and open to the public Eastern Oregon University One University Blvd La Grande, Oregon 97850 Teaching a More Complete Oregon History through Integrated Ethnic Studies  Expand the narrative of Oregon history using Integrated Ethnic Studies! Learn from local organizations, collaborate and lesson plan with fellow educators, and leave with classroom-ready resources for teaching a more complete Oregon history that includes the contributions and perspectives of Black, Chinese, Japanese, and Latine Oregonians; tribal history and Native nations; and Holocaust, genocide, and human rights education.  This free two-day educator workshop (July 28–29, from 9am–4pm) will feature customized sessions for grades K–5, 6–8, and 9–12 presented by the Oregon Historical Society, the Japanese American Museum of Oregon, Oregon Black Pioneers, the Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education, and the Portland Art Museum. Each session will introduce educators to resources they can use to support the implementation of the 2024 Oregon Social Science Standards, with a focus on Integrated Ethnic Studies, Place-Based Histories, and Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Education.  Participants will be eligible for PDUs and rural educators will be eligible for a stipend at the conclusion of the Ethnic Studies Summer Institute. Coffee, snacks, and lunch will be provided each day.
