About this event
One of 4 upcoming events at Japanese American Museum of San Jose.
We’re opening our doors on Saturday, September 10th for a free admission day! It’s the perfect opportunity to visit and learn about our historic San Jose Japantown and view our currently on view rotating exhibit. About the Exhibit: House Meeting(s): Opening the Door for Redress in San Jose House meetings were informal gatherings held in people’s homes, where friends, family, and community members came together to talk, listen, and organize. In San Jose, these meetings became an important part of the Japanese American redress movement, creating spaces of trust before conversations moved into broader, more public settings. House Meeting(s): Opening the Door for Redress in San Jose brings together multiple stories from a San Jose perspective to focus on the people and efforts that supported the redress movement across the community, including those working behind the scenes. Rather than presenting a single, fixed narrative, the exhibit reflects the varied ways people engaged with and sustained the movement. These stories show how participation took many forms, often outside of formal leadership roles or public view.
