Discover the art of Floating Ink with Martinez-sensei at the Japanese Culture Center! Are you ready to explore additional paper marbling designs? This two-hour workshop will introduce the use of powdered moss (carageenan) as a water additive. Pigments are floated on a liquid surface with the tip of a brush resulting in colorful, interesting patterns. Variation in designs will be demonstrated. Techniques include stencil application, paper tinting, exploring various inks and the use of a wetting agent (resist). Beginners are welcomed. Students will increase their confidence and knowledge of contemporary paper marbling and leave with at least ten 9×12 unique images. All supplies included. Limit 15 people.
