Led by longtime Maymont volunteer Ed Shepard, this guided focus tour explores the innovations and technological features found throughout the Mansion. Guests will discover bells, hidden panels, mechanical systems and other innovations that helped the household operate with remarkable efficiency and convenience. This special tour offers a closer look at the historic structure through the lens of technology, engineering and domestic life at the turn of the 20th century. Maymont Mansion is not wheelchair accessible. This behind-the-scenes tour gives you access to hidden spaces including narrow passageways, steep stairs and uneven floor surfaces.
