Dr. Monika Herzig (born 1964, Germany) is a distinguished jazz pianist, composer, bandleader, and scholar whose career bridges performance, education, and research. In 1987 she earned a scholarship to study in the U.S., and in 1988 she moved to America on a one-way ticket, launching her musical journey. She completed her doctorate in Music Education and Jazz Studies at Indiana University, where she taught for decades before assuming her current role as Professor of Artistic Research and Vice Rector at Jam Music Lab University in Vienna. This applied workshop is open to middle and high school-aged musicians, with at least one year of experience on their instrument. All instruments are welcome – you are invited to bring it along. ALL participants are required to bring a packed lunch. There will not be an opportunity for participants to purchase lunch. FREE. Registration required.
