The Co-Construction of Botanical Illustration 7:00–8:30 PM Tracy Qiu, Consultant, Artist, and Researcher Embark on a journey into the complex and fascinating stories surrounding botanical renderings and colonial plant collections. Tracy’s Ph.D. research explores the circumstances under which botanical illustrations were produced and asks the question, “How has the history of botanical illustration shaped the way we perceive plants, gardens, nature, and the environment today?” Drawing on archival research at the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew and Edinburgh, Tracy will share insights into how human-plant interactions crossed barriers of geography, race, class, and gender.
