@ Bring the entire family every third Thursday in the Joslyn Castle neighborhood along 40th Street, between Dodge and Cuming Streets. District partners Cathedral Arts Project Omaha, Cali Commons, Joslyn Castle & Gardens, and the Joslyn Castle Neighborhood Association, are looking forward to opening up our venues for an evening of art, food, and fun! Street Renaming We are officially renaming the street between 38th st – 40th st. on Davenport st “Joslyn Way” in honor of George and Sarah Joslyn! At 5pm we will meet outside the Castle Garden gates on Davenport Street for the sign installation followed by remarks from the Joslyn Castle & Gardens Director, Amy Richardson. Celebrate Refugee Week in the Carriage House Thursday, June 18 from 5 – 8 pm Joslyn Castle & Gardens welcomes you to an open house where guests can explore the Castle to view an art show. The Carriage House will host a screening of Refugee Week short films and have a display of artworks by refugee artists. The three short films were curated by Counterpoint Arts for Refugee Week, exploring what it means to begin a life after displacement, to find ways of coexisting in an unfamiliar world, and to preserve cultural roots in a new home. Artwork will also be on display by refugee artists. While varied in medium and expression, the works reflect the personal experiences of the artists with themes of identity, memory and belonging. Pop in next door to the Carriage House Cafe for a cozy cup of Amateur Coffee, delectable pastries from Sweet Magnolia’s Bake Shop, and make a one of kind print on our historic printing press. Unfurl & Unwind with Art & Poetry in the Castle Explore our spring exhibition Unfurl in the first-floor galleries and conservatory. Step into George Joslyn’s historic music room and unwind with poetry by local writers. Unfurl Celebrating the “unfurling” that follows transitions and growth. A group show curated by LALA On view in the Morning and Gold rooms of Joslyn Castle. Exhibiting Artists: Valerie Light Anderson Obed Sanchez-Liborio Jeff Sedrel Poetry Pause Moderated by Amy Haddad Featuring work by poets: Shyla Shehan Lera Iris Find them in the Castle Music Room.
