Immerse yourself in the beauty of autumn at Kangaroo Lake Nature Preserve on a guided hike through vibrant fall landscapes. Beginning atop a cuesta (cliff or asymmetrical ridge) and winding down to the peaceful shores of Kangaroo Lake, this hike offers scenic views and an engaging look at the biological and ecological processes behind the changing colors of fall. Along the way, you’ll discover the preserve’s diverse ecosystems while enjoying one of Door County’s most serene and picturesque locations. The preserve where it all began. Along Kangaroo Lake, the preserve protects a remarkable descent from an ancient glacial shoreline ridge down 130 feet to spring-fed Peil Creek and a boreal lakeshore teeming with wildlife.
