Workshop: Encaustic Painting

Saturday, August 15 (Rain Date: August 22) | 10:30am – 12:30pm | Instructor: Kathy Laybourn | $56 ($70 for non-members) | Register for Encaustic Painting Have you ever made art by experimenting with melting crayons when you were a kid? This workshop is designed for anyone who would like to be introduced to the “cold wax” encaustic method. Students will learn to add a soft, beeswax mix into oil paint which is applied to an encaustic board and melted with a heat gun. Successive layers of paint can be built up and mixed media elements can also be added to the layers to create both representational and abstract pieces of art.
