Outdoors Family Friendly

Join us this summer for the return of this engaging, nature-based educational camp! Children entering 1st through 4th grades explore natural connections through engaging activities in both the classroom and outdoor gardens. Each week features a different environmental theme. Register for one session, or even participate in all four sessions! Program Cost: $10/child per weekly session. Registration includes admission for one accompanying adult to enjoy the gardens each day while the child is participating in camp. Support for this program is generously provided by a Summertime Kids Grant from the Richland County Foundation.   **CAMP REGISTRATION IS NOW FULL.** Please email education@kingwoodcenter.org to be added to a waitlist in the event of any cancelations, and include the following information: Camp week dates preferred Child(ren)’s name Child(ren)’s age and grade level for fall, 2026     What’s happening each week?   Week 1:         Tall Trees and Busy Bees                                              June 2 – 5; 10am – 1pm Explore the towering trees that shape Kingwood Center Gardens while learning about the busy pollinators that help our environment thrive. Engage in hands-on activities designed to spark curiosity, build an understanding of tree ecosystems, and highlight the essential role bees and other pollinators play in nature.    Week 2:         Ponds and Beyond                                                      June 9 – 12; 10am – 1pm Dive into exploration to investigate the vibrant world of pond ecosystems, discovering the plants and animals that make these freshwater habitats come alive. Participate in hands-on activities that build understanding of aquatic life and highlight the interconnected roles each organism plays in a thriving pond community.    Week 3:         From Seeds to Sprouts                                             June 16 – 19; 10am – 1pm Dig into discovery to learn how tiny seeds grow into thriving plants and explore the important role vegetation plays in keeping the environment healthy. Take part in hands-on activities that teach the basics of plant growth and highlight how nurturing plants helps support ecosystems and a greener future.    Week 4:        Wild Impressions                                                     June 23 – 26; 10am – 1pm Create and explore as young artists use the beauty of Kingwood Center Gardens as inspiration, and observe the colors, textures, and patterns found throughout nature. Hands-on activities spark creativity, encourage careful observation, and highlight how the natural world can be transformed into expressive works of art.
