Currents, featuring a selection of contemporary artworks from the KMA collection, will be on view in the Terrace Level South Gallery from May 22 – July 26, 2026. Currents examines recent directions and developments in international contemporary art. This continually-evolving exhibition features a curated arrangement of works from the KMA’s collection by emerging and established artists working in East Tennessee and beyond. In the process, we can locate regional identity within a broader context, and place cross-cultural movements into open dialogue. Recent additions to the collection are regularly seen in Currents for the first time, and placed into a dynamic forum with works that remain contemporary.
