Step back in time at the 12,000 Year History Park! The Battle of Congaree Creek represented the final fortified Confederate stand before the capture and destruction of Columbia. Participants on the history tour will walk the battlefield and visit the earthworks, gaining insights into the strategies and tactics employed by both Union and Confederate forces during Sherman’s march through South Carolina en route to Columbia. History Tours commence at the Cayce Tennis Center, located at 1120 Fort Congaree Trail in Cayce, where free parking is provided. Attendees are requested to meet the tour guide(s) at the park’s entrance and to utilize the dirt parking lot situated to the left and just beyond the Tennis Center.
