The University of South Carolina Department of Theatre and Dance presents The Antelope Party, a dark comedy by Eric John Meyer, running April 3–12, 2026 at Drayton Hall Theatre. Performances take place Wednesday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m., with additional 3:00 p.m. matinees on Saturday, April 11 and Sunday, April 12. Tickets are $15 for students, $20 for faculty/staff, military, and seniors, and $22 for the general public. Set in the world of adult fans of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, the play follows a group of “bronies” whose shared fandom becomes overshadowed by growing tension and fear in their community. As a neighborhood watch group known as “The Antelope Party” gains influence, the group’s sense of belonging is tested, revealing deeper themes of identity, acceptance, and the consequences of groupthink. Directed by Jesse Jou, the production blends humor and suspense, offering a thought-provoking look at how the desire for connection can intersect with larger social and political forces. While rooted in a unique subculture, the story explores broader ideas that resonate beyond the stage. The Antelope Party contains mature language and themes and is not appropriate for children.
