Monday Mountain Explorers: Chapman Mountain Nature Preserve

Families with elementary aged children are invited to attend these homeschool enrichment program events focused on exploring the natural environment to develop a connection to the land, to wildlife and to each other. We will learn about Alabama’s biodiversity and natural resources through weekly seasonal nature-based themes. We will read literature together to spark curiosity about the natural world, we will discover and explore our natural environment together through walks and family-led activities, we will introduce the concept of field journaling as a way to capture our discoveries, and ultimately we will foster community through interactions in our natural environment. Additional Notes: Please dress appropriately and bring your own water/snacks for a short hike. Participants will be provided with a field journal; participants are encouraged to keep the field journal and bring to future events. Families are invited to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy after the event. When safe, get into the merge lane on the right (plenty of time). When the silver guard rail ends, be ready to turn right onto the paved entrance.
