Please join us for this special legacy lecture on George E Hale( 1868-1938 ) and Mt. Wilson. Hale built what were the largest astronomical telescopes in the world from 1897-1993. He initiated what became Caltech. He worked with Henry Huntington to create the Huntington Library. Hale was also the moving force behind the creation of Pasadena’s elegant civic center. Sam Hale was born in Pasadena,CA in 1942. He received his Bachelor’s degree and MBA from UC Berkeley in 1964 and 1966 respectively. He has spent his whole career in investment management. Sam was a Board member and later president of the Pasadena Humane Society in 2001. Sylvia and Sam moved from Pasadena to Santa Barbara in 2011 moving to Casa Dorinda in 2023. He is currently President of the Board of Trustees of the Mt Wilson Institute and Observatory
