On Sunday, May 3 at 2:00 PM at the Betty Strong Encounter Center, Jack and Mike Langley will brighten our day with a “Celebration of Mother’s Day.” playing original and evergreen favorites. Admission is free, but freewill donations encouraged. Mother’s Day always evokes a heart-warming presentation from this father and son duo. Mother’s Day is a celebration honoring the mother of the family or individual, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on different days in many parts of the world and most commonly in the months of March or May. Mike Langley is a singer-songwriter and 2012 Iowa Rock ’n’ Roll Music Association (IRRMA) Hall of Fame inductee. He has been known to teach basic guitar through Western Iowa Tech’s Lifelong Learning program. The Langleys have performed together onstage for more than 40 years, from Sioux City to Nashville, Tennessee, to Vienna, Austria and back. The Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center/Betty Strong Encounter Center was built and is sustained by the Missouri River Historic Development Organization as a gift of history to the community.
