About this event

Family Friendly Arts & Culture

How do you pass down stories to future generations if you don’t have books? On Saturday, April 11, join Ms. Amy at the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center to learn how native tribes shared their stories. No registration is required for this free class. The class is held at 11:00am. Admission is free, but free will donations encouraged. The tribes painted on animal hides, mainly buffalo, to record their stories.  They painted winter counts to record the events of the year. Some paintings reflected successful hunts or battles. You will get to create a record of a special event of your own (but not on real hides!) The Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center/Betty Strong Encounter Center was built and is sustained by the Missouri River Historic Development Organization as a gift of history to the community. For more information call 712-224-5242. Find the Center at www.siouxcitylcic.com or www.facebook.com/sclandc
