George Rogers Clark’s Illinois Campaign – Lecture – March 14 at 2 p.m. Explore the Revolutionary War in Illinois through the military campaign of William Clark’s older brother, George Rogers Clark. On May 14 at 2 p.m., historian Ray Brundege shows how the western campaigns of the Revolution led to Illinois becoming part of the U.S.A. As we mark America 250, we are reminded of the role that Illinois played during the American Revolution. While not yet a state, military campaigns under George Rogers Clark contested British control of the territory. This talk will explore this campaign and highlight the significance of the more Western campaigns. The program will give a general overview of the campaign and leave plenty of time for questions and answers. The program is free and open to the public. No registration is required. Ray Brundege is a passionate historian who has worked for the National Park Service and multiple state parks as an interpreter of history. His passion has led to research into the riverbend region and its place in wider American historical events.
