Mickalene Thomas – Beneath the Moonlight Exhibition at the Shepherd

Library Street Collective is pleased to present, Beneath the Moonlight, a solo presentation of new work by Mickalene Thomas at the Shepherd. The exhibition marks a milestone for Thomas, introducing an entirely new body of work that expands her practice into an exploration of masculinity and the representation of the Black male body. Bringing together large-scale paintings, collage and photography, the exhibition reflects a pivotal shift in one of the most influential artistic practices in contemporary art. For more than two decades, Thomas has developed a distinctive visual language rooted in photography, translating her images into paintings embellished with rhinestones, collage, acrylic and enamel.
