The Lizard Lounge Poetry Jam with featured poet Elisheva Azarael March 29th! $10 Born in Boston, MA, Elisheva Azarael started writing poetry when she was eight years old. While growing up in a predominantly white city, she found solace in reading rich literature by Nikki Giovanni, Sonia Sanchez, Maya Angelou, Toni Morrison, Wanda Coleman, Toi Derricotte, and many others. She contributed to OpEd columns in high school and college, and she won her first poetry prize in 2014 as a freshman at Quinnipiac University.
