Revitalizing Mishoon Culture on Long Island with Chenae Bullock

Participants will gain insight into how revitalizing mishoon practices strengthens community identity, preserves ancestral skills, and reconnects people to the waterways of the region. About Chenae Bullock Chenae Bullock, LPIM, is an enrolled citizen of the Shinnecock Nation the first contact tribe of Long Island and a living descendant of the Montauk people. She is an Indigenous leader, water protector, cultural preservationist, and founder & CEO of Moskehtu Consulting, an Indigenous-led sustainability and cultural strategy firm advancing regenerative leadership across business, government, and philanthropy.Deeply rooted in ancestral practice, Chenae has led the resurgence of traditional northeastern Algonquin canoe culture. Following in the footsteps of her whaling ancestors, she has organized and guided sacred paddles through historic waterways from Shinnecock to Mashantucket Pequot, across the Long Island Sound, and most notably from Boston to New York City, reclaiming Indigenous presence along ancestral trade and migration routes.
