Tours Arts & Culture

Time travel with the Atlantic Highlands Arts Council to savor artworks and gardens from Europe’s medieval era during a casual, self-guided Arts Trek to the Metropolitan Museum’s Cloisters site at Fort Tryon Park, Upper Manhattan, at noon, Saturday, May 23. Join us to learn the fascinating history of an obsessive collector’s dream that came to life with support of wealthy patrons like John D. Rockefeller Jr. and J. P. Morgan. See the treasures they collected, including some 5,000 paintings, tapestries, sculptures and manuscripts in a setting that evokes French monasteries and abbeys. Enjoy sweeping views of the Palisades and Hudson River on the steeply hilled, 65-acre grounds. Admission, transportation and lunch are on your own. (The Cloisters is accessible by car, New York City buses and subways. Trie museum’s Trie Café serves sandwiches and salads.) Cost: $30 adults, $22 seniors. Visit metmuseum.org for tickets and more info.
