About this event
One of 21 upcoming events at M.Judson Booksellers.
Join us for a free In Conversation event with local poet Richard Allen Taylor for his new collection, Geography of One. He will be in conversation with local author Arthur McMaster. ABOUT THE BOOK: The poems in Geography of One are mainly about the author’s experiences and reflections on losing a spouse to leukemia and adjusting to the single life after many years of marriage. In the opening poem, the author declares, “If you need a guide through the territories / of loneliness, take me. I know these lands, / speak the language, have wandered here for years… I’ve learned the geography of One / and its sovereign territories: solitude, single, / solo, island, isolation.” Taylor is quick to point out that his life situation is not unique. All of us have experienced or will experience periods of living alone, voluntarily or not, and the ups and downs of aloneness that can swing from joy to sorrow and back again. ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Richard Allen Taylor has poems in many publications including Aeolian Harp, Litmosphere, Tar River Poetry, and Rattle. A five-time Pushcart Prize nominee and former poetry editor, he earned an MFA in Creative Writing from Queens University of Charlotte after retiring from his day job. He currently lives in Greer, South Carolina. Never been to an In Conversation? This is a free event with books available for purchase.
