Mendelssohn, too, was captivated by Heine’s genius and set several of his poems, including “On the Wings of Song.” His majestic Piano Trio in D minor expresses his belief in a harmonious, enlightened world and the triumph of beauty. The charismatic baritone John Moore, joined by long-time collaborator pianist Adam Golka, brings profound psychological insight to the text.
