Join us Thursday, September 24th for this month’s History Happy Hour with Allyson Wilkinson representing Jonesborough’s Daughters of the American Revolution! In the 1930’s, the trail that established the settlements in the Appalachian frontier was honored by a marker. Jonesborough’s Daughters of the American Revolution placed the stone and metal monument at the west end of Main Street; over the decades, traffic increased and ultimately damaged it. The Immigrant Trail marker’s relocation to 124 W. Main Street places it with a restored log home of a Revolutionary Patriot and a Presbyterian church, the faith so many Scots-Irish immigrants brought to the colonies. In this Happy Hour, we will share the story of Jonesborough’s changing Main Street and its connection to this ancient network of footpaths created by bison, expanded by Native Americans, and adopted by European settlers. Allyson Wilkinson is a Washington County native who practices law in Jonesborough and there is no place she’d rather be! She serves as a Trustee of the Heritage Alliance, as a member of the Town’s Flag Committee, and as Librarian and Past Regent of Jonesborough’s State of Franklin Chapter of the Tennessee Society, Daughters of the American Revolution.
