The Percy & Small Shipyard at Maine Maritime Museum was part of an industrial center of shipbuilding in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. While the shipyard is currently located on a site of relaxation and learning, this presentation by Allie Travers, Manager of Education, will take attendees back in time to the years of Percy & Small’s operation, when it was the site of both heavy labor and sucsequent tragedy. Attendees will learn the most common causes and impacts of shipyard injuries and deaths through statistics and true human stories recovered from newspaper accounts from the time that these events took place. This free lecture is open to the public, and will be held in-person and on Zoom. Preregistration is required. Learn more Allie Travers is the Manager of Education at Maine Maritime Museum.
