Monday, August 17, 2026 2pm-4pm If you love pickles, just wait until you try naturally lacto-fermented pickles! They’re extra crispy and have a superb flavor that’s slightly tangy. No vinegar here! This process uses just cucumbers, spices, and salt water to safely create an environment rich in probiotic bacteria which preserves the pickles for around a year. We’ll dig into the science behind the fermentation process so you understand what’s happening in your jar, and create a batch step by step from start to finish. We’ll use cucumbers and spices lovingly (and organically) grown at Snapdragon Homestead. Everyone will go home with a jar of pickles, and the knowledge to create naturally fermented foods at home. The art of fermentation is truly magical, and this process can be used on just about any vegetable, so the possibilities are endless. Begin your journey!
