About the Show An intimate evening of music honoring the women who shape our lives. Jazz vocalist/ukulele artist Ashley Orlando and her band weave together heartfelt storytelling with timeless classics like “Feeling Good” (Nina Simone), “Over the Rainbow” (Eva Cassidy) and “Don’t Know Why” (Norah Jones) brought to life. Warm, nostalgic, and joyful, this concert invites audiences to celebrate love, memory, and connection through song. The Band Ashley Orlando – Vocals, Ukulele Raudol Palacios – Cello Connor Underwood – Piano David Ellis – Bass John Jones – Drums About Ashley Often referred to as a “joyologist” and a “breath of fresh air,” Ashley Orlando is a Louisiana-based jazz vocalist and Kanile’a Ukulele Artist who uses music to help people connect to joy in their lives. Ashley fell in love with the playfulness of jazz as a kid, but it wasn’t until she traded the comfort of her Southern roots for life in France and Texas (and picked up her now trademark ukulele) that she started exploring this dream genre. Today, her warm, angelic voice brings a fresh twist to the Great American Songbook, traditional jazz, and French chanson. Ashley has performed on stages throughout Louisiana and Texas (Festival International, Manship Theater, New Orleans Jazz Museum, Marigny Opera House, Houston House of Blues, Dosey Doe Big Barn), and as a soloist (Ned Fasullo’s Fabulous Big Band Orchestra, Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, Kingwood Big Band, Dr. Daylight’s Jazz Company, Florida Street Blowhards). In 2020, she was selected as one of five female artists to be featured virtually during the “Moonlight Mele: Ladies of the Ukulele” concert at The Hawaii Theater in Honolulu. Ashley also served as an advisory board member for the Ukulele Kids Club, which supports music therapy for hospitalized children. In 2024, Ashley performed as the supporting artist for ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro at The Heights Theater Houston. When not on stage, she enjoys teaching ukulele for Rock Class 101, cantoring at area churches, and exploring south Louisiana with her husband, Adam, and their 20-month-old son, Ethan.
