Thursday, November 5 | 6:30pm Enjoy a screening of the newest, breathtaking giant screen documentary, Secrets of Great Salt Lake 3D that explores the unique ecosystem and rich history of Great Salt Lake in Utah. After the film, hear from director and producer, Tyler Mifflin, on why he created the film and the importance of the lake. Tyler Mifflin began working for SK Films over 16 years ago but his passion for the Giant Screen/IMAX medium and its immersive power began at a young age when he went to see his first Giant Screen film at the Ontario Science Centre over 30 years ago. Those incredible film experiences had an immense impact on Tyler by bringing him to places he only dreamed he could travel to and introduced him to an amazing diversity of wildlife that filled him with boundless curiosity about how the natural world works. That curiosity led Tyler to become a documentary filmmaker who has now produced, directed and filmed dozens of projects in 35 countries. Tyler most recently directed, produced and shot the 3D Giant Screen film Secrets of Great Salt Lake, and is also the co-creator, co-host, and director of the award-winning eco-adventure documentary TV series, The Water Brothers, which explores the world’s biggest environmental challenges and solutions. The 5th season of the show was recently awarded the Best Science & Nature Series at the 2024 Canadian Screen Awards. As the Managing Director of SK Films, Tyler has a wealth of experience in film production and a passion for creating exciting educational content. Tyler has worked on numerous award-winning Giant Screen films including Blue Whales, Wings Over Water, Flight of the Butterflies, Amazon Adventure, Backyard Wilderness and Volcanoes. A natural history epic. A compelling detective story. A scientific adventure. Follow the year-long migration cycle of the monarch butterfly, the most incredible migration on Earth. Experience the inspiring journey of animals given a second chance at a wild life. Wild Rescue follows the dedicated teams who rescue, rehabilitate, and release injured and orphaned wild animals. This film documents orphaned orangutans and elephants and the extraordinary people who rescue and raise them – saving endangered species one life at a time. New science and technology have allowed scientists to make more discoveries in the past 10 years than the last 100, revealing a richer diversity in the ocean than ever imagined. Follow the incredible true story of nature’s greatest explorers – lemurs. Explore the remote world of Madagascar where lemurs arrived millions of years ago.
