Howdy! Put on your shoes and grab your water bottle as you head out the door to join Austin Parks Foundation for a great opportunity to aid with invasive removal and trail restoration at our seven-part series: Restoration Reset at Kendra Page Neighborhood Park. We look forward to seeing everyone at our event series this fall at Kendra Page Neighborhood Park. Our aim is to reduce the count invasive species present, reintroduce a native understory seed bank through seed collection and seed dispersal, and reduce fire risk by helping break down/remove fallen brush. This will be an educational, fun and rewarding opportunity to attend and participate in. Focus Areas: Invasive Species Management: Identification of invasive plants and techniques for managing woody and grassy invasives such as girdling, weed-wrenching and seeding (with native plants). Trail Maintenance: Removal and collection of fallen brush within the trail. Trash Maintenance: We will collect and remove trash from the park grounds. Why Attend: Help maintain and improve parkland. Learn sustainable practices for invasive species management and trail maintenance. Have fun with friends, community members and family as you enjoy the outdoors and support your local green space. Important Details: When: Saturday, September 26th: 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM Where: Kendra Page Neighborhood Park: 2203 Blue Meadow Dr, Austin, TX, 78744 Getting there: Parallel parking available throughout Blue Meadow Drive. What to bring: Closed toe shoes, a FULL water bottle, snacks, sunscreen, bug spray and comfortable outdoor clothing (preferably long pants and sleeves for protection). We will provide all tools and gloves - if you have your own gardening or work gloves you are welcome to bring them. Please note that our activity for the day will involve walking on uneven terrain, slopes and wet/muddy surfaces. In the event of dangerous inclement weather such as lightning, hail, or strong winds/ rain, APF staff will direct volunteers to vacate the site immediately. Children under 17 must be accompanied by a parent or supervising guardian to volunteer.
