About this event
One of 1,044 upcoming events at Park and Recreation - Prince George's County MD, and 3,853 across Washington.
Founded in 2001, the Washington Glass School has evolved from a local studio into a definitive pillar of the DMV arts landscape. Trial by Fire celebrates this quarter-century milestone, honoring a community that redefined glass as a narrative and sculptural force. This anniversary exhibition brings together founders, resident artists, and alumni to explore the “Glass Secessionist” movement—a philosophy centered on storytelling and the marriage of glass with mixed media. From monumental public works to intimate sculptures, the pieces on display reflect an enduring legacy of mentorship and technical innovation. This tribute highlights the school’s vital role in shaping the history and future of contemporary glass art in the Gateway Arts District and beyond.
