About this event
One of 798 upcoming events at Maryland-National Capital Park, and 2,866 across Washington.
The Power Rooms is an ongoing series of paintings that marks a significant evolution in the practice of Tim Davis. Shifting away from his previous focus on figures and portraits, Davis utilizes the interior architectural space as a platform for surrealistic reimagining. By transforming walls and floors into narrative landscapes, he creates immersive environments that invite viewers to step directly into the stories being told. These purposeful narratives confront the pressing issues of inequality, discrimination, racism, and injustice, intertwining them with history and culture. Davis’ work remains deeply rooted in the human experience, specifically the Black experience as it relates to truth and identity. For Davis, creating art for social change is a catalyst for the meaningful dialogue necessary to heal and find solutions to collective problems. Through these evocative spaces, The Power Rooms examines the strength of a culture and the vital importance of reclaiming one’s history.
