MSO On the Rocks: Jazz and America Tuesday, September 22 at 6:00 PM Alpine Plant Bar | Hagerstown, MD Featuring Eric Byrd, Founder of the Frederick Jazz Society What does jazz have to do with the way America sounds? Quite a lot, actually. Join the Maryland Symphony Orchestra for the very first MSO On the Rocks, a new series that takes the conversation about music out of the concert hall and into some of our favorite local spots. For our first night, we’re talking Jazz and America with Eric Byrd, founder of the Frederick Jazz Society. We’ll dig into how jazz grew into one of America’s defining art forms, how it found its way into the concert hall and why you can hear its fingerprints all over the music we think of as distinctly American. No music degree required. No homework. Just grab a drink, find a seat and come hang out with us for a good conversation. Tickets are $10 and include light refreshments. MSO On the Rocks is for the curious, whether you know a lot about music or almost nothing at all.
