At the heart of the program is Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet, celebrated for its sweeping melodies and dramatic intensity. Mendelssohn’s beloved Overture to A Midsummer Night’s Dream captures the wit, mystery, and lightness of Shakespeare’s magical comedy. Walton’s music from Henry V reflects the pageantry and spirit of the English court, while Tchaikovsky’s Hamlet Overture reveals the darker psychological drama of the tragedy.
