Inspired by a gallery of paintings, the music transforms visual images into vivid orchestral color. The program begins with Pierné’s energetic Ramuntcho Suite and continues with Chausson’s lyrical Poème, performed by violinist Claire Wells. Ravel’s virtuosic Tzigane adds brilliant flair before the orchestra turns to the sweeping musical landscapes of Pictures at an Exhibition.
