Introduction to Mountain Biking Clinic, Beginner Session I & II Session I – Saturday November 7, 2026, 8:30 to 12:00 Session II – Saturday November 14, 2026, 8:30 to 12:00 This registration is for both Session I and Session II. Session I is a prerequisite for attending Session II. This clinic is offered three more times this season, in November, January and February. If you can’t attend both Sessions, consider registering for a later date that better fits your schedule. Description of the Clinic: This is a two-session series designed to help you to ride dirt trails more confidently and have more fun! These beginner-friendly sessions are perfect for those new to mountain biking. You’ll build confidence and essential riding skills in a fun, supportive environment. Session I will cover: • Proper bike setup and a safety check of your bike and equipment • Turning, pedaling, shifting and braking techniques on a mountain bike • The right body positioning for varied terrain • Trail etiquette, right of way, and how to properly pass others on the trail Session II will cover • Review Session I skills • Practice drills that build balance, stability and trail awareness • Learn the Relaxed and Ready positions • Practice smooth shifting • Master safe emergency stopping Requirements for the Clinic: • You need to understand the basics of riding a bike on pavement • Your bike needs to be rideable on dirt trails – it must have knobby tires • Your bike needs to be in good working order – before you arrive at the Clinic be sure gears shift and brakes work, and tires are inflated to 25-30psi Please note that e-bikes are not allowed in the Clinics. Learning to ride an e-mountain bike is not part of this course. Difficulty Level: The clinics are designed for those wanting to learn how to ride on dirt trails. It is great for beginners and an excellent refresher for more experienced riders. Distance & Elevation Gain: As part of each session you will ride approximately 1 mile at the trailhead doing skills training. We will also do a 3-5 mile ride on easy trails following the skills sessions. Clinic Location: Both sessions begin at the south end of the Pima-Dynamite Trailhead parking lot. Look for our sandwich boards in the parking lot. Mountain Bike Event Requirements: Helmets are mandatory for all bike events. A mountain bike with wide knobby tires is required – please, no road bikes, hybrids, or folding bikes. Your bike must be in good working order – please check the tires, brakes, chain and general functionality before leaving home. What to Bring: A backpack with 2-3 liters of water, spare tubes and tools plus energy snacks. Restrooms are available at the trailhead. It’s always smart to have a paper map or mapping app in case you get separated from the group. Space is limited! Please save your spot with the RSVP below.
