About this event

This year’s edition of Spanish Cinema Now + in Dallas presents a showcase of films that reflects the breadth of styles and talents at work in Spain today, including both established auteurs and emerging filmmakers from the international festival scene. After its presentation in Washington, DC, the Meadows Museum will bring these films to Texas thanks to a partnership with the Cultural Office of the Embassy of Spain and Dallas Film. Thursday, May 7 | 7:00 p.m. Goat Girl / La niña de la cabra (2025) directed by Ana Asensio In Madrid in the late 1980s, eight-year-old Elena prepares for her first communion while grappling with her grandmother’s death. Her friendship with Serezade, a girl who is inseparable from her goat, makes Elena question her worldview. La niña de la cabra premiered at the 28th Málaga Film Festival in 2025 and is the second film by Ana Asensio whose Most Beautiful Island won the SXSW Grand Jury Prize for Best Narrative Feature in 2017. Spain’s Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts rates this film ICAA 7+ (not recommended for audiences under seven years of age), but the Meadows Museum screening is intended for mature audiences only. 95 minutes | Spanish with English subtitles Watch trailer
