Isidore String Quartet in performance with cellist Sterling Elliott

Presented by the Utsey Chamber Music Series at Clemson University. Since its founding in 2019, the Isidore String Quartet has won both first prize and the Haydn prize at the 2022 Banff International String Quartet Competition and was honored with a 2023 Avery Fisher Career Grant. Now in their 20s, this ensemble has unquestionably risen to the top of the crowded young quartet scene. In addition to a Haydn quartet, the ensemble will perform Billy Childs’s Quartet No. 4, which was written expressly for them and which they premiered in February of 2026. Cellist Sterling Elliott joins the quartet for Franz Schubert’s monumental C Major Quintet. In addition to being awarded a 2021 Avery Fisher Career Grant, Elliott was named a BBC New Generation Artist in 2024 and was the recipient of the Sphinx Medal of Excellence in 2024, the highest honor bestowed by the Sphinx Organization.
