The Matt Olson Quartet will perform a concert of original jazz compositions and music from the Great American Songbook. Enjoy a set of swinging, straight-ahead jazz, along with some ballads and bossa nova! Matt Olson is the Charles Ezra Daniel Professor of Saxophone and Director of Jazz Studies at Furman University. He has performed with Randy Brecker, Chris Potter, Joe Lovano, Kurt Elling, Doc Severinsen, Manhattan Transfer, Aretha Franklin, Natalie Cole, and Lou Rawls, among others. Matt has released three solo recordings (Open Spaces, 789 Miles and Vortex),along with his two recordings with the collaborative jazz sextet Unhinged Sextet, Clarity and Don’t Blink. Matt will be joined by fellow Furman faculty members Matt Dingledine on guitar, Shannon Hoover on bass, and Greenville Jazz Collective board member and realtor Brandon Blackburn on drums.
