MDCA Away from Home: CCEMiami presents “Hambre”

The Cultural Center of Spain in Miami (CCEMiami) and Miami-Dade County Auditorium, in collaboration with the Roxy Theatre Group, present “Hambre” on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at 8:00 pm and Sunday, October 4, 2026 at 6:00 pm at the Westchester Cultural Arts Center. Una comedia inspirada en la poesía y la novela picaresca del Siglo de Oro español. A través de textos de obras como La Pícara Justina, El Lazarillo de Tormes, Rinconete y Cortadillo, Don Quijote y poemas de autores como Lope de Vega, Quevedo y Góngora, la obra explora con humor e ingenio el hambre física y espiritual, el poder de la palabra y la resistencia de quienes viven al margen. Escrita y dirigida por Eugenia Sancho, esta puesta en escena íntima y contemporánea es interpretada por Betsy Rodríguez, Letty Carmona, Catalina Arenas y la propia Sancho junto a su compañía Sensodrama. A comedy inspired by the poetry and picaresque literature of Spain’s Golden Age. Drawing from works such as La Pícara Justina, Lazarillo de Tormes, Rinconete y Cortadillo, Don Quixote, and poems by Lope de Vega, Quevedo, and Góngora, the play explores with wit and humor both physical and spiritual hunger, the power of language, and the resilience of those living on society’s margins. Written and directed by Eugenia Sancho, this intimate and contemporary production is performed by Betsy Rodríguez, Letty Carmona, Catalina Arenas, and Sancho herself with her company, Sensodrama. ————————— This performance is part of Miami-Dade County Auditorium’s Away From Home Series.
