The Military Aviation Museum has made the difficult decision to postpone its premiere airshow, “Warbirds Over the Beach,” to fall 2027. However, the event dates of October 3-4, 2026, will still go forward as a special living history event on the museum grounds. The limited availability of aircraft is preventing the museum from safely staging the full airshow experience that guests expect. While Warbirds Over the Beach is the museum’s largest annual fundraising event, the team at the Military Aviation Museum believes in bringing guests only the very best warbird flying demonstrations and this postponement reflects that commitment to both safety and quality. What to expect: While no aircraft demonstrations will take place that weekend, the museum’s historic warbird collection will remain on full display across its four hangars. Guests may also reserve seats aboard the museum’s 1941 Stearman Biplane for scenic flights throughout the weekend. Reservations may be made online at: militaryaviationmuseum.org/warbird-rides. Living history groups and reenactors will establish encampments on the grounds from Friday evening through Sunday morning. On Saturday, October 3, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the museum will host a living history program featuring representatives from WWI, WWII, and Korean War-era groups, drawing on the museum’s full collection to honor the spirit of America’s 250th anniversary. Participating units will include the Parris Island Living History Detachment, presenting a static display and non-tactical weapons demonstration, alongside WWII-era military vehicles. Throughout the grounds, an array of living history groups will offer guests an immersive look into the past through period-accurate uniforms, authentic encampments, and various collections of militaria and vehicles. Food trucks will also be on-site Saturday to serve guests throughout the day. Standard daily museum admission includes full access to all living history programming for the weekend. All proceeds from this event help fund the Military Aviation Museum and its educational programming. We are a non-profit 501c3 museum.
