Workshops Arts & Culture

Saturday, June 27; 10am–12pm CT In this virtual workshop, we’ll dive into some cool tools—both digital and on paper—to create tessellations, anaglyphs, patterns, and origami templates. We’ll also check out inspiring artists and ideas to prompt your creativity, and explore how to blend digital tools into your artwork. Whether you’re a printmaker, illustrator, or you just love making art, this is your chance to experiment and have fun with new techniques! Level: Intermediate. Basic computer skills and familiarity with Photoshop or other design software are required. Participants also need the ability to run design software (8GB of ram and free space on your hard drive). Adobe Creative Suite or Affinity Suite are helpful software, if you have them, but not required. Camilo will introduce and share how to access many types of design software during the workshop. Certificate: 2 hours, Category B or D Pricing $45 | $23 Scholarship | $68 Pay-It-Forward Scholarships are available for individuals facing adversity as it relates to identity, income/wealth, and lack of access to arts resources. The Pay-It-Forward rate (tuition, plus 50%) supports MCBA’s efforts to make scholarships available. We leave it to you to choose the rate that is meaningful to you based on your income, wealth, and privilege status. MCBA members receive a 10% discount on tuition. What you'll need to participate Tech requirements: For this participatory virtual workshop, we recommend joining on a laptop or desktop computer with a camera, microphone, and strong internet connection. You will receive step-by-step instructions for downloading Zoom (it’s free!) and accessing the workshop online approximately 2 days before the workshop’s start date. Materials: You are responsible for sourcing your own materials from the materials list. You are welcome to reach out to teaching artists with questions about materials in advance of the workshop (contact information is listed on the materials list).
