The Research Center Presents: Become a Naturalist! Presentation & Book Signing with Teresa Veraguth 📅 Date: Thursday, September 24 ⏰ Time: 5:00pm-7:30pm 📍 Place: MDC’s Theater 💸 Cost: FREE On Thursday, September 24, come on over to MDC to learn how to identify local plants, animals, and fungi with Teresa Veraguth! During her presentation, Teresa will explain how to use her book, Small Hands Can Help! Minnesota, as a multi-age, multi-layered tool to transform your family’s time outside into an ecological adventure. It’s fully illustrated, and it contains quality information, beautiful poetry, QR codes to scholarly resources, and more. She’ll also share how everyday citizen scientists can contribute to important environmental conservation work by observing the world around them, recording their observations, and uploading their findings to iNaturalist. It’s amazing how much of an impact you can make from your own backyard! After the presentation, Teresa will sign copies of her book. The evening’s schedule: ️☕ 5:00pm: Mingling and (free!) snacks (first come, first served) 👩🏼‍🏫 6:00pm: Teresa begins her presentation 🖋️ 6:45pm: Presentation ends, book signing begins 👋🏾 7:30pm: Things wrap up About the author: Teresa Veraguth is an author, illustrator, photographer, graphic designer, substitute teacher, and the founder of the Small Hands Can Help! book series. She is a graduate of UW-River Falls with a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts. She is passionate about ecology and education, and she envisions a healthy planet with joy for children of all ages. Her favorite naturalist topics are birds and pollinators. Check out her iNaturalist account! About iNaturalist: iNaturalist is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that administers an online social network of people sharing biodiversity information to help each other learn about nature. As a crowdsourced species identification system, iNaturalist helps people identify the plants and animals around them while generating research-quality data for scientists working to better understand and protect nature.
