About this event
One of 12 upcoming events at Montana Native Plant Society.
Aquatic Invaders of Montana: Plants, Mussels and More Monday, October 26 at 7 pm Aquatic invasive species pose a growing threat to Montana’s waterways, native species, recreation, and local economies. Join Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks AmeriCorps member Rayna Ponessa and FWP AIS Bureau Chief Tom Wolff to learn about aquatic invasive species. They’ll emphasize the aquatic plants present in the Flathead Basin — Eurasian watermilfoil, curlyleaf pondweed, and fragrant waterlily — as well as mussels and more. Participants will learn how to recognize invasive species, what makes them invasive, and possible impacts on Montana’s waters. We’ll also discuss the prevention and management efforts taking place in the Flathead. Co-sponsored with the Whitefish Lake Institute and the Whitefish Community Center. Help build our community and join other Flathead Chapter members at 5:30 pm to plan Chapter activities. The program starts at 7 pm in the Whitefish Community Center at 121 East Second Street in Whitefish.
