About this event

Tuesday, April 14 & Wednesday, April 15 at the University of Montana Plants, Fire & Conservation conference brings together leading voices in botany, ecology and land stewardship for two days of learning and collaboration.  The conference is open to the public.  It’s particularly relevant for people in federal, state, Tribal and local governments, as well as nonprofits, academia, private industry and MNPS members. Attend one or both days in person at UM’s University Center or online via Zoom. Day 1 spotlights the intersection of native plant conservation and fire, featuring ten experts in western Montana who will share insights on fire behavior, post-fire recovery, and using fire as a tool to support native plant and wildlife diversity. Paid registration is required for the first day. Day 2 focuses on Montana’s Potential/Species of Concern vascular plants and how we identify, track, and manage them. Get an overview of how plant conservation status is determined, including recent efforts to update state rankings. Find out how using modern tools like iNaturalist, Citizen Botany & Survey123, as well as herbarium databases, affects information sharing and decision making. You can attend for free the second day, but must register (for free) to get Zoom credentials. Link to more info & registration form
