Reception May 6, 2026; 5–7pm Animus Intra encapsulates the journey of this year’s graduating illustrators as they discovered what they were passionate about and now take a step forward into their futures. The showing artists hail from both Montserrat’s Illustration and Writing and Visual Narratives Concentrations, crossing a broad landscape between the raw visual power of illustration and the written word and showing a strong selection of new ideas up and coming in the art world. Visitors to Animus Intra—Latin for “The Soul Within”—will witness the many states of mind one can discover on the path to finding what lies within one’s own soul, the souls of others, and most importantly, the soul of their work. Within the collection, artists explore themes of self-expression, exploration, and discovery through means of journalistic illustration, concept art, sequential work, and more. The reception is held on May 6th from 5–7PM in the Montserrat and Carol Scholsburg Alumni Galleries at the Hardie Building on 23 Essex Street. It features 10 illustrators: Roux Blanchard, Amanda Brown, Adrian Curti, Emily Jasso, Melana MacLean, Reagan McCarthy, Christian Miscioscia, MJ O’Leary, Alicia Smith, and Megan Wentworth. The collection will exemplify the variety of illustrative disciplines coming out of four years of intense study. Each artist’s unique perspective brings a fresh take on the soul of the practice and the human condition.
